Capstone — Cross-department leadership briefing pack
| Level | Duration | Primary apps | Sample files |
|---|---|---|---|
| 200 | 45 minutes | Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Agent Builder | At least four source files |
Scenario
Your team must prepare a leadership-ready briefing pack that combines project context, finance and sales insight, operations awareness, customer-service quality, and a knowledge-agent demonstration, spanning multiple departments and business units. Six deliverables in forty-five minutes only works as a team exercise, so split into groups of three to five and assign one deliverable per person, with one person owning the executive report and assembling the pack. Agree the headline message in the first five minutes, build for thirty, and keep the last ten for validation and a three-minute readout. If you are working alone, complete the executive report and the leadership presentation and design the agent on paper rather than building it.
Deliverables
| Deliverable | Tool | Minimum requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Executive report | Word | A 2-3 page report with summary, risks, decisions, and actions. |
| Finance and sales dashboard | Excel | At least two charts and one summary table. |
| Operations / service summary | Excel or Word | A concise leadership update from ops KPI or ticket data. |
| Leadership presentation | PowerPoint | A 6-8 slide deck with speaker notes. |
| Knowledge agent | Agent Builder | A working or designed agent using the FAQ and safety guide. |
| Agent test report | Copilot Studio or Word | A table of test questions, pass/fail results, and improvements. |
Suggested capstone prompt sequence
- Summarize the charter, budget, pipeline, ops KPI, and ticket data into a single briefing outline.
- Create the executive report in Word using the outline.
- Analyze the Excel workbooks and identify the top cross-department risks.
- Create a PowerPoint presentation for leadership review.
- Build or design an agent that answers from the approved knowledge documents.
- Test the agent and document improvements.
Assessment checklist
- The participant used at least four source files from
Contoso Group copilot / sample data. - The Word output includes executive summary, risks, decisions, and next actions.
- The Excel output includes analysis rather than only raw data.
- The PowerPoint output is concise and suitable for leadership.
- The agent instructions include out-of-scope handling and no-fabrication guidance.
- The participant can explain how they validated Copilot output before sharing.
After the workshop — thirty-day adoption plan
The labs use mock Contoso Group data. Use the four weeks after the workshop to move the same habits onto real departmental work under proper guardrails.
- Week 1 — Each participant picks one recurring task from their own role and rewrites it as a prompt using the scaffold in Appendix A.
- Week 2 — Departments replace the Contoso mock files with two or three of their own approved documents, keeping the same guardrails: no regulated or personal data, named sources, and human review before anything is shared.
- Week 3 — Each department nominates one agent candidate and drafts its purpose, knowledge sources, response schema, and refusal rules.
- Week 4 — Run the red-team set from Lab 13 against that agent and review the results with IT and compliance before requesting approval to share it.
Record what the department saved, what failed validation, and which capability gaps need a tenant change, and bring that record to the next enablement session.
